SINGAPORE – The TENG Ensemble (“TENG”) will make their return to VivoCity Amphitheatre this Mid-Autumn for Once Upon a Full Moon 2024! Presented by Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”), TENG is excited to perform live for the wider community for the fifth edition of the beloved concert series. The concert will take place the weekend before Mid-Autumn Festival and showcase TENG’s signature sound through their dazzling original compositions. Tickets to the concert are available for purchase from 12 August via Eventbrite and can be purchased at S$4 to S$5 each, or at a discounted rate with the “family and friends bundle”.

The concert will run from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at the VivoCity Amphitheatre and will be hosted by TENG's Executive Director, Mr Yang Ji Wei, and Creative Director, Dr Samuel Wong. The concert will feature acclaimed local singer-songwriter Charlie Lim. Best known for his soulful melodies and brilliant songwriting, Charlie Lim will perform “Room at the Table”, the song that opened the National Day Parade in 2020. Audiences will also enjoy the premiere of a brand new song written by Charlie Lim performed together with the ensemble! Both arrangements are Mapletree commissions that will be played for the first time during the concert. Two Mapletree-TENG scholars, Claudia Xie and Clarissa See will also make their stage debut with the ensemble and showcase their budding talents on the Ruan and Erhu, respectively.

In conjunction with TENG’s 20th Anniversary, the ensemble will perform some of their greatest hits. From classic pieces such as “Childhood” from the “Stories from an Island City” album, to exciting new pieces such as “Kallang Uproar” and “Soaring” their latest album “The Singaporean Composers Series”, the evening will be a celebration of TENG’s artistry and Singapore’s multicultural landscape.

Audiences are in for a treat at the show with an exciting evening of music! Moreover, complimentary lanterns will be distributed during the show and attendees can look forward to celebrating with their loved ones amid the festive mood!

“Mapletree champions the importance of making the arts accessible to all as part of our corporate social responsibility commitment. As we celebrate TENG’s 20th Anniversary, we look forward to co-creating more meaningful and enjoyable performances together, while finding ways to help Singaporean Chinese music and musicians shine,” said Mr Edmund Cheng, Chairman, Mapletree.

"As part of TENG's 20th Anniversary this year, we are proud to present three nights of Once Upon a Full Moon at VivoCity, where we would showcase our Mapletree-TENG Scholars and collaborate with renowned singer-songwriter, Charlie Lim. We are especially excited to present a programme that showcases the best of TENG through the years,” said Dr Samuel Wong.

Once Upon a… is part of an annual series of concerts started since 2018, that celebrates the Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. Notably, this concert series also serves as a vibrant platform for TENG to collaborate with artists from diverse cultural backgrounds with a shared mission to inspire and impact the community through the common language of music. Following the successful shows of their Lunar New Year show Once Upon a Time 2024, Mapletree and TENG are proud to be back with yet another instalment of the performance to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival this year.

A presentation ceremony will be held on 13 September to congratulate the 2024 batch of six Mapletree-TENG Scholars.
